Ingredients
2 packages oven-ready lasagna (not pre-cooked)
32 ounces whole milk ricotta cheese
1 large egg
1 cup shredded parmesan cheese, divided
½ teaspoon salt + more for tasting
½ teaspoon pepper + more for tasting
½ tablespoon dried oregano
½ tablespoon dried basil
1 medium sweet onion, diced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 pound ground beef
1 pound ground pork
1 24-ounce jar tomato sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Preparation
Preheat oven to 400℉.
Lightly grease a large skillet and warm on the stove over medium-high heat. Add onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Add ground beef and ground pork. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Cook until browned. Drain excess grease.
Place meat mixture in a medium mixing bowl, and add ½ jar of sauce. Mix well and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, ½ cup parmesan cheese, ½ tsp salt, ½ tsp pepper pepper, garlic powder, oregano, and basil. Set aside.
In a small mixing bowl, combine remaining parmesan and mozzarella. Set aside.
Evenly spread ½ remaining tomato sauce on the bottom of a 13x9 baking dish.Â
Add one layer of lasagna and cover with â…“ ricotta cheese mixture. Spread â…“ meat mixture on top of ricotta. Repeat layers with remaining ingredients.
Place a final layer of lasagna over the meat mixture. Evenly spread the remaining tomato sauce on top and sprinkle with mozzarella mixture.
Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until sauce is bubbly and cheese is melted and browned. Set oven to broil for additional browning, if desired.
Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes then serve, or cover and freeze.
